About Honorable John Hynes (Ret.)

The Honorable John Hynes is a retired Judge on the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Kent College of Law. He was appointed an Associate Judge in 1999 and served on the bench until his retirement in 2019. As a judge he served in the Civil Division of the First Municipal District and the Civil Division of the Fifth Municipal District. While in the 5th District he was additionally assigned to the Law Division. While in the Civil and Law Division, he presided over a variety of cases including Personal Injury Matters, Automobile Accidents, Property Damage, Premises Liability, Contract, and Fee Disputes. He has been an Adjunct Professor at DePaul Law School since 2004, teaching Trial Advocacy. He has been a panelist or speaker on a number of CLE programs in the area of civil law and practice.
