About Hon. Jack Fleming (Ret.)

The Honorable John Fleming is a retired Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. A graduate of DePaul College of Law, Judge Fleming practiced civil, criminal and administrative law for fifteen years prior to being elected as an Illinois Circuit Court Judge in 1996. In his role, Judge Fleming has served in the First Municipal District, the Criminal Division on the Felony Trial Calendar and the Probate Division. During his time in the court's Criminal Division, Judge Fleming heard hundreds of bench trials, conducted hundreds of pre-trial settlement conferences and presided over 25 jury trials. He then served in the Probate Division for ten years until retirement. As a Probate Judge, he presided over each calendar, including, Decedent Estates as well as Adult and Minor Guardianships. For three years he presided over the Mediation Calendar, where he mediated Guardianships and contentious Will and Trust disputes. He has presented on Mediation at the ICLE Elder Law Course.
